Virginia State Police Master Trooper Andy Roberts Shadowbox
After a storied career and multiple K9 partners, Master Trooper Andy Roberts decided it was time to begin his next chapter. As a memorial, I was asked to create this shadowbox to recognize his accomplished career.
This large shadowbox includes the VSP patch and badge, photos and nameplates for each K9, Virginia State Police Trooper Pledge, and the Police K9 poem.
Massachusetts State Police K9 Frankie EOW: July 26, 2022
K9 Frankie was a 10 year old Belgian Malinois, that served the Massachusetts State Police for a 9 year tour.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, K9 Frankie was shot and killed after he and his handler had responded to a barricaded subject in Fitchburg. After being barricaded for hours and speaking with negotiators, the subject agreed to surrender. When Frankie and his handler approached, he shot Frankie. The subject later committed suicide.
K9 Frankie served with the Massachusetts State Police for 9 years.
I created this shelf sitter memorial for Frankie’s handler. It is created out of 1/4” maple and includes a photo from the department’s memorial page and their patches.
The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are bold as the lion. (Proverbs 28:1)
Virginia State Police K9 Duke EOW: August 30, 2021
K9 Duke was a 5 year old German Shepherd, that served the Virginia State Police for 5 years.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, K9 Duke died after suffering heat stroke while tracking a hit and run suspect in Shenandoah County, Virginia.
Duke was assigned to the Culpeper Division Area 12 Office.
This large memorial shadowbox includes detailed engraves of the VSP patch and badge and the poem “Guardians of the Night”.
When Duke came home for his final rest, an urnbox was created for his ashes. I recreated is name plate from his patrol vehicle, Team Alpha K9 State Police logo, Guardians of the Night VSP K9 logo and marker.
40 Years of Service - Career Recognition
In 2021, a good friend and colleague of mine hit a career benchmark - his 40th year in law enforcement. I designed this presentation to recognize him for his service to the communities he served.
Each end of the plaque holds a single sided K9 challenge coin. The center of the plaque holds three badges from the agencies he served with: Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, Manassas City Police Department and the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office. The backer is a solid piece of maple wood that is engraved with his last name.
Thank you to your family for sharing the Lt. with his work family throughout the years. And thank you Lt. for your continued and honorable service over the last 40 years!
Police K9 Joker Retirement
This special guy retired from duty in 2020. His handler contacted me about designing a special commemoration of his career.
One professional headshot and a great idea and here you have the finished product.
The project was completed in three layers of maple wood, and also three separate engraved pieces. Badge is mounted on the face of the photo to give it a 3D effect. The frame was also laser cut and stained in Minwax Early American.
Measurement: 14 1/2” x 11”
Police Detective Retirement Gift
This plaque and challenge coin project was made for a detective who was exiting the law enforcement field after 20 years of dedicated service.
The large plaque measures 18” x 12” and is framed with a mitered frame stained in Minwax Early American. The letters were laser cut and also stained in Early American. The patch, badge and thin blue line were laser engraved / cut. The agency name was engraved directly on the birch backer.
The set of challenge coins were each individually laser engraved / cut. They are also double sided. The sheriff’s tape was laser engraved and then fixed onto a 18” base.
The challenge coins for this project are my proudest creations to date. It is definitely something you have to see in order to appreciate the detail.
Thank you Detective Rodriguez for your years of service to your community!
